Thank you wikiquote… Heraclitus: Fragment 41, Quoted by Plato in Cratylus:

  • You could not step twice into the same river; for other waters are ever flowing on to you.
  • You cannot step twice into the same river; for other waters are continually flowing in.
  • You cannot step twice into the same stream. For as you are stepping in, other waters are ever flowing on to you.
  • You cannot step twice into the same river.
